Sod installation

Fresh sod laid on a properly prepared base, so it roots in evenly instead of patching, peeling or sinking.

What is included

How a new lawn goes in

  1. Clear the old

Worn turf, weeds and debris removed so the new sod sits on clean soil.

  2. Grade and level

Low spots filled and the ground sloped away from the house so water runs off, not in.

  3. Lay it tight

Pieces butted tight with staggered seams, cut neatly around beds, walks and curbs.

  4. Water in

Soaked right after laying so the roots meet moist soil from the start.

Florida know-how

Choosing grass for your yard

St. Augustine is the most common lawn grass in Florida. It fills in thick and some varieties handle partial shade. Bahia takes full sun and needs less water and feeding, with a coarser look. Zoysia makes a dense, fine lawn that likes sun.

New sod needs frequent water for the first few weeks, then less as it roots. Local watering rules usually allow extra watering while a new lawn establishes. Check the current rules for your address before setting the timer.

Shady side yard under an oak

I can’t say enough about this company. Ben and his crew are top notch. They took their time and completely transformed my landscaping and installed some amazing lighting. Ben even went above and beyond and searched three counties to find the perfect rocks! My house looks amazing and my neighbors are so jealous!

FAQ

Common questions

Which grass is right for my yard?

It depends on sun, foot traffic and how much care you want to give it. Shady yards usually point to a shade-tolerant St. Augustine. Big sunny areas that should stay low-input often suit Bahia.

How soon can we walk on new sod?

Keep traffic light for the first couple of weeks while the roots knit in. A gentle tug tells you: when the sod resists lifting, it is rooting.

Why does sod fail?

Mostly from poor prep or water. Sod laid on uneven, compacted or weedy ground, or left to dry out in the first weeks, is the usual cause of brown seams and bare patches.
