What is included

Ways to grow food in the landscape

  1. Fruit trees

Citrus and other fruit trees placed for sun, room to grow and easy picking.

  2. Herb and vegetable beds

Raised beds and planters with good soil, close enough to the kitchen to actually use.

  3. Mixed planting

Edibles worked in among ornamentals, so the yard looks planned, not like a farm plot.

  4. Water and sun

Edibles grouped where they get the sun and water they need, on their own irrigation zone.

Florida know-how

Growing food on the Treasure Coast

Florida turns the usual garden calendar around. For many vegetables the main growing season runs from fall through spring, while the summer heat and rain suit a shorter list of crops. Herbs like rosemary and many tropical fruits are happy most of the year.

Sandy soil drains so fast that vegetable beds do better raised and filled with richer soil. Fruit trees need room and full sun, so they are worth planning at the start rather than squeezing in later.

I can’t say enough about this company. Ben and his crew are top notch. They took their time and completely transformed my landscaping and installed some amazing lighting. Ben even went above and beyond and searched three counties to find the perfect rocks! My house looks amazing and my neighbors are so jealous!

FAQ

Common questions

Will an edible garden look messy?

Not if it is designed in. Raised beds with clean edges, fruit trees placed like any specimen tree, and herbs used as border plants all look intentional.

What grows well here?

Citrus, many tropical fruits, herbs, and cool-season vegetables in the fall to spring season. The right list depends on your sun, space and how much time you want to spend.

Do HOA rules allow it?

Many do, especially when edibles are part of a tidy landscape. Check your association rules before planning beds in the front yard.
