What is included

What a good system includes

  1. Zones by need

Lawn and beds on separate zones, since turf and shrubs need very different amounts of water.

  2. Spray and drip

Spray heads for turf. Drip or micro irrigation for beds, which puts water at the roots and keeps leaves dry.

  3. Coverage

Heads spaced so their patterns overlap, with no dry corners and no water on the house or the street.

  4. Controller and sensor

A timer set to local watering days and a rain sensor that skips cycles after a storm.

Florida know-how

Watering rules and rain sensors

Most of the area follows water management district rules that limit lawn watering to set days of the week and keep it out of the middle of the day. A controller set up correctly makes those rules easy to follow.

Florida law requires automatic sprinkler systems to have a working rain sensor or similar device that shuts the system off after enough rain. It saves water, money and the soggy lawn that invites disease and fungus.

I can’t say enough about this company. Ben and his crew are top notch. They took their time and completely transformed my landscaping and installed some amazing lighting. Ben even went above and beyond and searched three counties to find the perfect rocks! My house looks amazing and my neighbors are so jealous!

FAQ

Common questions

Drip or spray?

Spray for lawn, drip for beds is the usual answer. Drip uses less water, keeps foliage dry and puts the water where the roots are.

Do I need a rain sensor?

Yes. Florida law requires one on automatic systems, and it pays for itself by skipping cycles the sky already took care of.

How often should a new landscape be watered?

More often at first, then less as roots grow. New sod and plants need frequent water for the first weeks. Established Florida-friendly beds often need very little outside dry spells.
